Joyita Banerjee, from Bellevue, WA, is a junior at the University of Washington and has been involved in many service learning and community outreach projects. In high school, she was part of a peer-educators group named ASPEN that raised over $50,000 for AIDS research as well as taught AIDS awareness classes across the school district’s high school health classes.

At the University of Washington, Joyita has been involved in numerous community service initiatives also. Utilizing her business degree, she has provided comprehensive business consulting services to minority-owned businesses in economically distressed areas of Seattle. Additionally, she has volunteered at a local women’s shelter to aid women in their path to recovery from homelessness or mental illness. Finally, she loves giving back to the community through her passion for singing. Her sophomore year of college, she co-founded a South Asian Fusion acapella group that performs at numerous venues and raises funds for local South Asian charities.

Overall, Joyita loves giving back to her community and is extremely excited to serve on the State Farm Youth Advisory Board as a Pacific Northwest Zone Representative.
