Kelsey West graduated from Riverdale High School in Portland, Oregon and is currently attending the Robert D. Clark Honors College at the University of Oregon as a Presidential scholar.
Kelsey has been deeply involved in service learning. She was a member of her high school’s service leadership class where she created and implemented various service learning projects, such as designing an innovative service learning curriculum about the education system and the achievement gap.
On a local level, Kelsey coached Special Olympics basketball for three years and served as the chair of the steering committee for Portland’s first Habitat for Humanity’s Youth United Build. As chair, she led a group of 12 youth in raising over $60,000 to fully fund and build a home for a deserving family. On a national level, Kelsey served as a member and mentor on the National Youth Leadership Council’s Youth Advisory Council for two years. Internationally, Kelsey was a Global Citizen Corps leader with Mercy Corps. Kelsey has been named Portland’s Future First Citizen, Elk’s Most Valuable Student, Comcast’s Leaders and Achievers, and President’s Volunteer Service Award.
In addition to service learning, Kelsey’s passions include playing soccer and lacrosse, outdoors, reading, traveling, and spending time with friends and family.
