Glenn McLaurin will proudly serve the State Farm Youth Advisory Board as a representative of the Mid-Atlantic Zone.
Before joining the State Farm Youth Advisory Board, Glenn served as an active member of the North Carolina Civic Education Consortium Youth Advisory Committee, assisting in the review of civic oriented lesson plans, advocating for civic-engagement opportunities for youth in his local area, and volunteering with Kids Vote! and similar programs. In 2007, Glenn also enjoyed the opportunity to serve on the North Carolina Civic Education Consortium Small Grants Selection Committee, responsible for distributing large financial awards to North Carolina-based civic engagement programs seeking funding. Glenn continued his involvement with the Civic Education Consortium through 2008, writing an award-winning grant proposal to start a "Green Leaders" program which celebrates environmental stewardship at his school.
Glenn volunteers with Capital Area Teen Court, a local restorative justice effort on a consistent basis, serve as a teen attorney, developing training material, and leading training sessions for future volunteers. His combined interests in law and youth issues have led him to his current jobs; he maintains the case management software system at a law fm and volunteers with a county effort to create a diversionary program for at-risk youth.
In his free time, Glenn enjoys reading, writing, surfing, and scuba diving. He will enter the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill as a freshman in Fall 2008, where he intends to major in Public Policy Analysis.
