Blackfoot/Bingham County Youth CoalitionBlackfoot, IdahoYear Funded: 2009The group will implement a prevention/intervention program based on best practices and independent youth research surrounding attempted teen suicide issues within Bingham County, Idaho.
Channel One - Central Falls/Ralph J. Holden Community CenterCentral Falls, Rhode IslandYear Funded: 2009The group will work in their small community (1.27 square miles) of 19,000 people to combat youth violence. Focus is on coping with tragedy, improving community image, improve after school programming, improve communication between residents and law enforcement, and create a k-12 mediation program.
York UniversityOntario, CanadaYear Funded: 2009This initiative will utilize York University students to educate local Black Creek Area school children and residents about Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management. Also, a certain number of York area schools and Toronto Housing buildings will be selected as sites where Disaster Preparedness readiness can be built into the everyday fabric of these locations.
Institute for AmericaTallahassee, FloridaYear Funded: 2009Kidz Bite Back is a generation of youth (4th, 5th graders) targeting back industries that have been targeting kids for decades – fast food, soft drink and junk food industries; and national TV networks and video game companies. Kidz Bite Back also empowers kids to be healthy!
Camp Fire USA Central - Puget Sound CouncilSeattle, WashingtonYear Funded: 2009Camp Fire USA will recruit, train, and oversee Latino teens who will plan and implement a variety of activities designed to promote Disaster Preparedness in the Spanish speaking community of King County.

Elsie Whitlow Stokes Community SchoolWashington, DCYear Funded: 2009Fourth through sixth graders will help create and maintain a community garden to be shared with their neighbors in Washington, DC. Scholars will educate their neighbors on the importance of good eating habits and teach them skills to grow and cook their own vegetables.
Hampshire Educational CollaborativeNorthampton, MassachusettsYear Funded: 2009Youth participating in the afterschool program in Converse Middle School researched bullying and designed a curriculum that addresses the roots of the problem. In this project, students are implementing the curriculum in their own school and training youth trainers in 7 other schools.
Linden High SchoolLinden, New JerseyYear Funded: 2009The implementation of the Y-RISE(Youth Replication Innovative Strategies and Excellence) HIV/AIDS Prevention program initiated by the National Youth Leadership Council for high school students through Service-Learning.
