TEEN CORPS in ACTION will train youth in disaster preparedness, response, recovery and mitigation and will engage them in Emergency Management efforts that will provide an enduring benefit to communities in Northwest Florida and beyond. FEMA’s Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) training will provide the foundational service learning curriculum, which will be followed by advanced training in first-aid, CPR, Volunteer Reception Center (VRC) training and FEMA courses. A Youth Emergency Preparedness (YEP!) event will be conducted during National Preparedness Month to engage the media and community in this Project.
The TEEN CORPS in ACTION Project will educate youth and other residents about the multitude of natural and man-made hazards to which Northwest Florida is vulnerable. It will also provide the resources to train youth in disaster preparedness, response, recovery and mitigation procedures and engage them in efforts to make the community more resilient to disasters.
