The Youth Diversity Initiative will encompass two important phases. Phase one will consist of Keystone members participating in the Youth for Unity curriculum. During this phase, members will learn the importance of tolerance and diversity in our society. The program is designed to fight prejudice, bigotry and discrimination. Phase two of the Youth Diversity Initiative will consist of Keystone members researching and creating a dramatic presentation to perform at local community centers and for younger Boys & Girls Club members. The teen-led presentations will address diversity issues in an age-appropriate manner, while promoting the lessons learned from the Youth for Unity curriculum. The short-term goal of this initiative is to help youth understand and embrace different cultures, backgrounds, and lifestyles, as well as to appreciate their own unique abilities. The long-term goal of this initiative is to prepare youth to grow into adults who will help create a more accepting society, thereby reducing discrimination and violence.
